    Default Wade and Butcher question

Guys how much blade am I missing here? Got a little trigger happy on this purchase. The spine is a quarter inch and the blade is 6/8. Seems to me like everything is worn pretty evenly but I don't know enough to be sure.

its hard to say exactly, but my guess it was at least 7/8 if not more in its original state. Should still shave amazingly, those are my favorite, i have several, 5/8 6/8 7/8 8/8, and they are all excellent.

The smile has been honed out of it. Originally it was similar to the curve of the spine.
Here's an FBU which is a little thicker and taller but you get the idea.

What you have there is a nice razor but someone honed it to a flat edge & didn't go with the flow of the spine which is a swayback. It can be fixed & will be an excellent razor but will lose some metal getting it corrected. Hart shows a good example of how it should look.
From now on, it would be a good idea to just take your time. I understand how you felt but once you are into this a little longer, you will see how things are. There are some good deals & some bad ones but as long as you didn't spend that much on it, you did okay. Just take your time & shop around for one plus you will find that other makes are nice also & many can be gotten for a good deal. That one will actually look nice again once honed correctly, it will have a nice little smile to it. It doesn't appear to have a lot of hone wear on it as many others I have seen.
