another one
Don't know much about the maker just that it looks with in my ability to pretty up and hone. I'll know more about it when it gets here but really know nothing about the maker or there history. I looked outside this morning and cloudy and rainy and the fickle weather man says more of the same so maybe this one wasn't suck a bad idea.

Nice razor. For a company that was around for about 150 years I don't see many of them.
Looks like 4 generations ran the business from about 1760 when the corporate mark of the 'Bugle' was granted until about 1910 when assets were sold. Interesting the name Michael carried through 4 generations. Michael Hunter Sr. thru Michael Hunter IV. There are 2 pages of the company's history in Tweedale's Directory if you have the book.
Here is a before and after restore picture of my Michael Hunter & Son which I believe was a military issue. My razor is stamped hand forged which I think became popular in the 1880's. It lacks the 'Bugle' corporate mark which I can see on your razor but the 'Bugle is on the razor's coffin.

Your razor looks great. It appears to be a 6/8 at least. I like that size better that the smaller blades. really don't know what size mine will be until it gets here. I hope it turns out looking similar to yours. That mirror finish is a killer. Thanks for your photos . there encouraging.

This one came today and although it's blade is in pretty good shape i'm a little disappointed I was hoping for near wedge it's hollow ground. something i didn't notice. It's 11/16 with little to no hone wear. should clean up and hone good. the scales have a chip in the bottom . i may try to make some horn dust and mix epoxy to fill. if it don't work i will change them out. anyway it's a good project.

Thanked: 4828I'm surprised ti's hollow ground Roger. It looks pretty wedge like in the picture. I have a Frederick Reynolds that is a hollow of sorts I was a little disappointed when it showed up. It must have been reground a long time ago.

If it was re-ground it was a real good job. anyway I finally got a light box made so when I finish it and hone I can take better photos and post. At least that's the plan.

While you will need to de-grease very well you might consider this instead of the epoxy.
I haven't had a chance to try it but I'm really looking forward to trying it.
