The last two posts have me wheezing and laughing like a madman...
Mike, I really like woodworking, cabinet making, etc. I've known some amazing craftsman and artists if I can say that who worked in wood. I've stared at examples of Japanese woodworking skills and the joinery in old American barns alike. I know who George Nakashima is, to name drop...I like all the varieties of wood from around the world that are put to use by man. An artist friend a long time ago felt sorry for me after my first divorce because I left the marriage with a thermarest, a sleeping bag, Beretta .20 gauge over and under, a MEC junior, fly rod and fly tying stuff...bout it. My two kids and I sat on the floor and ate...like I said he felt sorry for me. I didn't. So he helps me build a table to eat at....used alder scabbed from pallets...then the dude talks me into mortise and tenon joints, then he suggests I peg them...further I peg them with square pegs and use a light colored wood for the wedge...it took me all winter to finish. Cool table though...and good friend.
Anyway, I digress as I do...I really like wood. Just not everywhere.
