    Default Gift from Grandfather

I received this razor from my grandfather and would like to know if any of you have information on it. It is an ERN. Says Wald ERN solingen on blade along with 10 year guarantee. This is enclosed in gold color with leaves bordering it. Handle is black. Also says 1910 on neck of blade.

Any ideas on the brand name? I'm under the impression there are a few.

I've had a few ERN's in questionable shape that shaved wonderfully. Yours looks light years ahead of any I've ever had. Hold onto that one, they're some of my favorite German razors.

Ps, that little toe chip couldn't be in a better spot. Should be easy for any restorer to fix up. I vote on making it a spike point

Yup. quality razor in very nice condition. Honed up and the chip taken care of it should be a dandy shaver as well as heirloom. Everyone should be so lucky to have such a piece of family history to shave with.

Excellent razor. Looks like it's in phenomenal shape other than that toe chip. But like Arbroth said, couldn't be in a better spot. Send it out to one of the guys in the classifieds to have it honed and theyll fix that toe right up for you. Because it was your grandfathers razor, and the excellent condition it's in, you have a rare treasure. Enjoy it!

It is an heirloom piece in very nice condition. If it is your only razor please get an inexpensive and shave ready razor to learn with and save your heirloom piece from any learning errors. Once you get the shave and caring down pat it will be nice to have that one in all its glory.

Hey guys thanks for all the quick replies. I'm definitely going to take good care of this. I've a inexpensive razor I use now. I think I'll stick to it until I'm more proficient at shaving with one.

That razor is in great shape! Most of the ERN razors I have seen are the plain versions, and often have lived very hard lives...
That is a great piece of family history, congratulations!
