Thanked: 2284Some cool razors today
Well, today I was lurking on ebay going through a bunch of razors, and found a bunch I would have loved to bid on, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. So, I did the next best thing and headed out to the Antique Store, to see if I could tame my needs, and wants.
Well, I found some odd ball brands, and one that has some local history with the area I live in. I thought it was very cool!
The area I live in has a huge German back ground. The local city, Kitchener, actually use to be called Berlin. When I saw the markings on this blade, I was pleasantly surprised. I got home here and did a google search on E.O. Ritz & Co. and it turns out it was an old drugstore in Kitchener, or, Berlin as it use to be called. I really think it's cool that I found a locally distributed razor. Wish I knew what razor maker made this for them. This is what I found on google.

The other 2 razors are also pretty neat, and had to do a search on here too. All should clean up well. Top is a Krusius brothers, Edge Rite. Second is a no name Solingen, third is a Eriksson & Bijorklund, No. 3 5/8, and the last is the local blade, unknown maker.Last edited by HARRYWALLY; 12-27-2015 at 07:29 PM.

Thanked: 3226Nice to find a razor with a connection to the local area, congrats. That could pre date the 1916 name change. Always found it funny that nobody got worked up enough to change the name of Swastika during WWII. At least you are finding some locally, it has been a drought here.

Thanked: 2284I've always said I'm very lucky to have 3 big antique malls within 25 mins of me. And many small Mom & pop stores close too.

Neat razors! I'm guessing Kitchener was renamed after the British officer during WWI?

Thanked: 2284I most definitely will. My Wife grew up in Kitchener ( her maiden name was Eberschlag, how's that for a German name,) my Dad worked his whole life there, and it's where my parents met. This razor will definitely stay in my possession and it has peaked my interest in the cities history.

Are these hats or bedpans hanging in the window?
