Nice shaped blade, looks to have never been honed. Is that rust near the edge? Would send it out for a pro hone if you don't have much experience.

Thanks. Not rust. Not sure what it is to be honest. It's got an edge, nothing to shave with. It will knock a few arm hairs off.

It might knock off some arm hairs but that doesn't mean it is shave ready. You might try some crox or some diamond spray on the fabric side of a strop or the leather & strop it to see how it shaves. Aside from that, if it tugs or pulls, I would send it out. Nice score.

Those are unique scales and a blade that is in good condition! If you are new to honing I would suggest sending it out to make sure it comes back good to go.
