    Default My first Koraat

My first 8/8 Koraat arrived in the mail today. Ulrik shipped it three weeks agofrom Austria. It took awhile, but was well worth the wait. Wanted the simple classic Sheffield look, so I stuck to the basics on the design and wanted to do my own scales. Dressed her up today in a set of scales that I made two weeks ago with her in mind, and they seem to suite her nicely. They are stabilized buckeye burl, lined in stabilized walnut. Wedge is also buckeye burl. Borrowed this design from Macrob in Ireland- thanks. Collars are nice large replica dome brass and pins are nickel silver. I am happy with the result. I will try shaving with this monster in the morning. Have shaved with other 8/8 but will go slowly with this bad boy... Just sharing

Looks pretty nice. Double spikes is not my cup of tea but it looks great. A nice combined effort with each doing an element. It seems to me in the factories way back when, one person made blades and another scales. It seems logical to me.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Very nice Austin! Christmas was good for me this past year so I have been able to get some cool things myself.

Your scales are a perfect match for that beautiful razor. Congratulations.

Thank you for the kind words. Was concerned that they might be too kluncky but believe they fit this large, heavy blade nicely. This will be a keeper, part of my personal SR rotation for sure.

Pete, I shared that comment from kalerolf with my wife and we both LOL. She is now beginning to understand why I am so excited about this Koraat. Thanks for your comments on the scales. We feel the same as many others do about Koraats.
