J.B.F. Champlin & Son
Here's one I scored recently, a J.B.F. Champlin & Son. I love it & always wanted one but they were always overpriced! I have not done anything with it yet but it feels great in my hands with the extra part on the tail for using two fingers. Just like a Pike razor hone I won recently for $23 & has dual grits so it is the same type used for axes also but I'll show it in a different post.
J.B.F. Champlin, Little Valley, N. Y. started in 1880 & went on until 1886. He added "& Son" in 1882 & they continued until 1886 when the Case brothers joined the firm & became The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company so this one is anywhere between 1882 & 1886. There have been quite a few different razor makers from Little Valley, N. Y. including a Crandall Cutlery, Little Valley, N.Y. (1905-1912), I showed recently which I basically stole because the seller listed it as Randall Cutlery. Case was also involved with Kinfolks Incorporated, Little Valley, N.Y. (1926-1958), Little Valley Knife Ass'n., Little Valley, N.Y. (1900-1905) & maybe a few more. There were quite a few cutlery firms in that area around that time.

Thanks Willis. I forgot to mention it hardly has any hone wear at all. Every time I tried to type in Champlin my computer tried its best to over correct the name with champion! It did it every time i would type it. It took me awhile to make this thread as opposed to others.

Thanks Ishmael. I don't think I've ever called you that but your post always says it & I've been meaning to call you by that one as well Bill.
To be honest Shaun, it doesn't. I don't think I'll shine it up much. This one is one from the Little Valley bunch that were making razors way back when & Case finally took over.
Thanks my friend. I greatly appreciate it.
