Road Trip
Had a bunch of errands to take care of yesterday, one was to meet with a fella who had a couple razors he was willing to sell. While enroute to the man's house, I happened across an antique store in noman's land. Just a simple building with the red ,white, n blue, antique flag next to the road. Swung in for a quick look, came out with three razors. A wosty celebrated IXL, a no name, and a frameback for $60. Down the road I headed for the two origanal razors , arriving at the mans house a hour later than than expected, hoping he hadn't left, but he was waiting in his garage. He hands me the razors after a quick greeting.
One is a 5/8 Rauh, Greafrath with decorative scales (inlayed with white and green MOP), and a 9/16 Hugo's Victor with bolsters. Looked them over, and we got into discussion about razors, and proceeded to show him the plethora of pic I have on my phone of the ones I have, and pic of some that I've restored. He then asked me what I'd give him for his. I walked away.... a happy owner of two for $75. He told me he was hoping for $125, but knew I wouldn't pay that much after our talk about the ones I had bought on the way there. I then ran the rest of my errands for the day, the last one being a bass club meeting .
The club president walks up to me and says, I got something in the car for ya after the meeting. Figured it to be something from the big board meeting he attended in Columbus the week prior.
At the end of the meeting he motions me to the door, he reaches in his truck and hands me a 11/16 Putley, Bordough in ivory scales, one wich is cracked, but not broken.
Tells me , here I found this ...its yours if you want it, theres some rust on it, and I know you like fixin these things up. I say, how much do I owe ya for it. Nothin... Just let me see it when you get it done.
So here they are.

Nice haul,,, I've never really been interested in framebacks, but that one has a simple beauty about it. Love those scales.

Lucky.!!!... I went on a 160 mile tour today and all I found were Leaverites! Got a great Chinese "MaPo" dinner that made the trip better than good!
The Frameback looks Sheffield, was 8/8ths or so; well worn. Could be French but without the original scales I cannot tell.
A crying shame; the Putley was left next to a rotting celluloid for so long...

P.S. You deserve the luck!Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Outback your posts usually read something like this to me..
"So i walked out to the mailbox this morning and found a bag someone had left with 100 razors in it. I went back in the house to make breakfast and found 6 razors in my cereal box. I went out to mow my lawn and found my shed had been replaced with a pile of razors, which didn't matter because every blade of grass in my lawn had become a razor. Then my shoes turned into razors and i floated away into razor heaven where i sit on a razor throne made of razors."
Seriously man, you have a knack for tracking these puppies down.
