    Default Vintage Merkur Mustache Safety Razor

    Hey Guys,
    A little razor not often seen; a vintage Merkur mustache razor. Here are the blades that came with it also. I don't really have any information on it, so please add to the thread if you know any.

    Thank you for looking,
    Hirlau

    Yah know, I've seen blades somewhere. Can't recall at the moment but check with Maggard's.

    I noticed tonight while trying to find history on it , that they are still being sold. They are silver/chrome in color,,,, not as old as this one .
    The Merkur blades now come in a white box.

    Cool little razor. You will have to grow a mushtache and try it out.

    Nice collectible John. I got one that was included on a package deal on some slant (twisted head) razors from Germany some years ago. At the time I googled, or checked amazon, and the reviews were not encouraging. The problem is not the razor, according to the reviewers, but the blades weren't up to the level of sharpness to shave comfortably. Never tried mine.

    Now what surprises me is that mine is different from yours. Mine is more a mini double edge with the same width on either side. Mine is not marked on the head, but has the traditional 'Merkur' roll marking around the handle above the thumb piece. I'll have to check and see if blades are even available for this animal.

    Default Vintage Merkur Mustache Safety Razor

    I received a modern one of the mustache razors as a gift. I occasionally use it for goatee cleanup. The blades aren't the best.

    The second razor in this thread is a Merkur corn razor. Blades are still available for this one as well. Search for Merkur corn razor blades.

    Your right ! Now, if I just had some corns .......... I could go buy some tight shoes ..........

    Straight Razor Designs has blades for the thing. I guess I could try it on my moustache, from what I've read about the regular moustache blades the corn blades couldn't be any worse. Here is a the old model and the new one ;
