Yes, I was shaving when I realized I didn't strop it but it didn't need it. The shave was truly a fantastic shave & one might strop their razor when they get it but is personal preference IMHO. When I realized I didn't strop it, I also came to the conclusion it really didn't need it & I knew Ulrik's work was truly top of the line. I did strop it once it was dried off after using it, plus I oiled the pivot. I also gave it a coat of Ren-Wax, let it sit for awhile then polished it with a soft rag.
When you go to SRD & on the Koraat page, it says this, "A small one-man manufacturer, located in Austria" & the very bottom line is the following:

"The razors are delivered shave ready and honed by the craftsman."

One can be purchased from SRD or if you want to wait a few weeks & have one made to your specifications then you can order directly from Koraat Knives. The Configurator/order page also shows pics of what each selection will look like.

I just had one in my hands the other week, when I was at Imperial Shave. A very thick , but well balanced blade. "Green with envy" Steve.

Yeah MG Mike, they are a bit thicker than the normal straight razor but very well built. They are well worth the money too. You probably have never been to his configurator page, but if you did, there are so many options & each one has a pic you can click on to see what it will look like with that option. That way when you submit your order, you pretty much know exactly what you are getting. Once Ulrik is done with it, he sends you pics which are the pics I used here for mine & you can decide whether you want it or not but when he sent me my pics, I wrote him back & told him it was every bit of what I saw in my mind when I ordered it or something to that effect. Anyone that would back out of something like that would be a fool. And yes, it is well balanced too! Everything he does is top of the line all the way to the custom built coffin for it also & when he shipped it, it came in a very large box to ensure there was no way it would get damaged at all during it's trip from Austria to the states. Click on "Razorconfiguator" to check it out.

    Customized razors

There are so many different options, it's so astonishing that it could have so many different ways it can look.
I made the featured SOTD with it yesterday.
I'm not knocking any other custom builder either, I'm sure any of them will make you whatever you want.

    Well done Steve.
If my own example is anything to go by it will quickly become one of your favourite Blade's.
    Thanks for posting it.

Happy birthday Steve, what a great birthday present! Love those scales and know it was well worth the wait. Welcome to the Koraat club. Ulrik provides great customer service for a wonderful custom razor. Be careful with that big boy! Mine sits on the top of my rotation. It really is a work of art. Enjoy your Koraat!
