Default My first Wade and Butcher FBU

Earlier this week i had to pass on a nice Wosty FBU because of a crack in the blade(guess it wasn't so nice) which was disappointing because the price was right. Made up for it this weekend with this WB FBU. wiped it down with some Mothers for the picture. measures just a hair under 8/8s. hoping to save the scales. Any tips on horn repair?

Nice find! As far as horn repair goes make sure and do any glueing/epoxy work BEFORE you do any oil application to rehydrate the horn.

Can't help you on the grind but you could fill in the bit(s) with Epoxy mixed with some dust sanded off an old horn scale or something black. I've gotten pretty good results filling in the bits with several coats of Super Glue then sanding it down. You can use Super Glue for any cracks in the scales too. I would also recommend treating the scales with Neats Foot oil to replenish the natural oils.

That will be pre 1891 - most likely 1840 +

That is a gorgeous hollow grind, have one or two just like it, and they are pretty much my favorite blades - the W&B's are what I always come back to - personally Nothing beats Sheffield steel - congrats on a great find. :-)
