Default Joseph Rodgers 7 Day Set

Blades are nearly perfect. Two sets of scales have damaged pivots but on opposing scales so I will cobble together one full set. Then I just need to sort one pair.

What a nice set. I found a 7 day set of Wilkinson one time at an antique mall I got them for $48.00 they have bone handles 1 had a chip out of it. It is hard to find a 7 day set in good shape for less than $500.00
Its fun getting them all shave ready.

The most common problem with 7 days is two blades with heavy wear and the rest clean/unused. Another common issue with solingen ones is cell rot having killed the whole set. A really frustrating one is when one blade has been replaced with a non original one. I need to buy another Rodgers for the scales. They used this scale a lot on hollow grounds.

Sets are funny. When they are complete and in fine shape they sell for less than each piece would individually. You would think it would go the other way and a set would be worth a little more, especially if you gave any value to the box. I just don't get market values sometimes.

Good ones fetch nice prices. I paid $270, I figure sorted out and all shave ready maybe worth 1-125 more. You are right though. I typically wouldn't go big money on a set unless it was very ornate, but I am a big fan of Joseph rodgers razors. I like the English and French sets with the single short scaled tang with the interchangeable blades.

That is a nice set! I would for sure have picked that up for $270, good find.
