Great score David and a dream shaver like the majority of western style full hollow Japanese straight razors. Tanifugi razors as well the Diamond series straights are among the best shavers in the world. Enjoy.

I've been wondering this for awhile, and it could be embarrassing to ask (if in fact I actually could be embarrassed), how do the makers of this era of Japanese razors make such a fine hollow grind with such a beefy spine? Is it simply the metal that is above the part of the spine that sits on the hone?
And yes, I really like the heft combined with a fantastically thin grind....
Interesting observation as I have a few Wade & Butchers that have an exceptional hollow grind, a couple in fact that I joked could be the great Grandfather of the Filarmonica/Palmera #14's...but with the fantastic heft of Sheffield steel.

And agreed, the Japanese Iwasaki 20mm straight razor I have, for a small blade, definitely has some great heft to it....

No need to go for your hogleg cowboy, I thought there was some acronym I wasn't aware of, and I wanted to know it so I could get me some.

    Great looking razor.
    Just a fyi.
Early manufacture Iwasaki T-hagane razors were outsourced to Tanifuji and Tokiwa for finishing.

First use, this morning, and all went as well as I was expecting. These Japanese Westerns take a great edge incredibly easily, and three passes went without a hitch. Just love these blades.

Congratulations David! Tanifuji are just perfect, they are easy to hone and take an exceptional edge, the red scales are quite striking.
