Default E.A. Berg, Esklistuna, Sweden, 7 day frameback set.

This week the 7-day frameback set, made in Eskilstuna, Sweden, by E.A. Berg arrived in the mail. The purchase whas a bit of a gamble, as the pictures in the offer were not very clear. Some of the scales seemed to have minor cracks. Anyway, I got the set, and it's in a much better condition than I hoped for. What looked like cracks are just deep scratches filled with dirt, and the blades are near shave ready, no chips or other problems. The set only needs secure cleaning, polishing and honing. More pics after the work is done.

Thanks Outback. I'm not sure if it's bone or ivory, probably bone. As far as I can remember I never had ivory in my hands, and none of the straights in my collection has bone scales. So I have to find a way to figure that out.

You have gotten yourself one beautiful set of straights.

That is not an insignificant set and it deserves to have the pivot pins removed and the shanks fully restored. IMHO.

I was thinking of having the pivot pins removed and repinned by an experienced collector / shaver in the Netherlands -watch and learn-, as I haven't done pinning-work before; I don't want to mess things up. The cleaning and honing I sure want to do myself.

Beautiful, I was watching those if they are in fact the same set, congrats.

I have one of those razors, feather weight light, takes an uber edge, just was a little to light and small for my hand, after a couple of uses, could tell it would be a biter for me - a spectacular set in great shape, looking forward to seeing the next set of pics.

Beautiful set. From the pics I would say it's ivory.

I do hope it's ivory. When I'm back home from work this weekend I'll take some clear pics from the scales, and post them.

Very nice set and are great shavers. Looks like ivory. Look at it with a loop. Bone is very grainy, ivory has a nice tight grain pattern. Congratulations you will enjoy them.
