    Default F.W. Soderen from Sweden

I saw these the other night & they were going to end the next morning. I knew what they were because I have one already but I did have two at one time. I gave the better one away as a gift plus it was all original. These razors the blade will slide out the front & I guess back in the day, they sold replacement blades. There were 6 of 'em & in one of them, the blade was put in backwards which gave it away instantly to me. I got them for a song but there was some slight rust on them which looked minimal so i took a chance. I got them today & I sprayed some Zep 45 penetrating oil with teflon in it. It was just handy at the time which is why I used that lube. I let them sit for awhile & I got the 0000 steel wool & cleaned 'em up except for the black one. When I won them, I figured someone cleaned one up & painted or powder coated it but that wasn't the deal at all. I couldn't believe it, plastic! The black razor is actually plastic except for the blade & holder, so I guess when the blade went bad, they would just replace them..................

Thanks John. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for another one but I never dreamed I'd find 6 of them, one of them plastic. As I mentioned in my post above, they must have had replacement blades for those back that is unless they used some sort of thin sleeve to slide over the spine so they could hone it.

This reminds me of one, made entirely in ivory, posted somewhere in this forum.

Thanks guys. they are different & I found it out after I already had a couple of them when I came across something in a book or online but I think it is in one of my books where it said that particular razor, the blade slides out from the front. It is a unique razor.

Hello gents. I have been meaning to mention this but after posting this, a few weeks went by & a member, mattluthier, asked me about my black one of this bunch. He said he has one just like it & that it is not plastic, rather wood! I got it out & looked at it closer & I could see the grain in it. Wood??? Apparently these were made to buy replacement blades because I could not see honing with wood but they do have plenty of blade to hone & I have plenty of tape!
