Just got this 17/16ths Fredericks Celebrated razor. A couple of cracks in the scales nothing unrepairable but I am going to put a set of horn scales on her. I will repair and keep the originals to be put back on one day. I find different answers but were these made by Frederick Reynolds?

Well computer issues aside cleaned it up and these are the scales I will put on. It has some minor pitting along the edge. Can't wait to hone her up and take her for a shave. Happy Father's day to all.

I also wonder if your razor had the acid etching on the blade face....??? On mine it is badly faded, you can barely see it....

Interesting, I have a Frederick Reynolds, 9/8, "The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor, For Barber's Use" - only other brand of razor I have with that etching...here's a pic of mine where you can actually see the etch, somewhat similar:

And after being cleaned up and honed, pins replaced:

Thanks, I have read where they were and were not made by Frederick Reynolds. On Manahs site he had a Fredericks Celebrated he advertised as a Reynolds so I would say yes but no definitive answer. Phrank I don't think it had any etching but it looks like somebody had a go at it some time ago.

I have had a few of both. I doubt that they were the same maker. They are good razors. They are not nearly as common as Frederick Reynolds razors.
