Thanked: 2284King Cutter Arbolito & a 13/16 Clauss.
Today I was working way out of town in the heart of Mennonite country, and on my way back home after work decided to drop in at one of my regular antique stores to see what new items they might have. They actually had quite a few, most priced at $45-55. I looked at around 8 razors and a few I was on the fence about taking home, but these 2 were the last ones I looked at, and the real gems of the bunch.
First lets talk about the Boker King Cutter. The brand I've handled the most of in my searches. I see so many of these in my area, most are not worth buying but this one is unique. It's a full 11/16 with a very nice gold wash etch still intact. The makers mark is one I've yet to see, and it reads;
Heinr. Boker & Co.
Baumwerk-Solingen
Germany-Alemania
and on the back of the tang it reads,
Arbolito
Treebrand.
Second is a big 13/16 Clauss that I'm hoping I can clean up the edge and make that heel hone wear disappear.

Thanked: 4828I am pretty confident that you will be able to reduce that heel and have it looking like it should without much of a challenge. I do envy those of you that are able to go out and hit the antique shops regularly.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Arbolito means "little tree" in spanish. Dunno if that signifies anything, but the more you know... king cutters are beat to hell over here too, good find!

Thanked: 2284I think the reason I've never seen the Boker etch before is cause it's a newer etch.... nonetheless, I'm sure it's just as good as the others I have.

Great score Andrew! I love Boker's. They are fantastic shavers. I like that King Cutter. Clauss is another good one. Both are in great shape it looks like.

Thanked: 3228I believe , possibly wrongly, that the Arbolito branding was for the was for Spanish speaking markets. Regardless, I have not had a vintage Boker that was not an excellent shaver. The only Clauss that I have is also an excellent shaver. I think you have 2 winners there.

Great finds, I have a King Cutter myself that's one of my best shavers. Enjoy!
