    Default My first project razors

I have been on the hunt for some project razors to try my hand at restoration. I bought these three for less than $40.00 total. It looks to me like they have potential. Time to start reading the restoration threads. [emoji1]

Those are nice. I see very little or no hone wear on them.

Perfect candidates. Looks like they'll clean up quite easily.
Their just like the ones I find in the wild.
There's lots of info in " what are you working on " thread as well, for razors like those.

Are those pressed leather scales, or horn?

They appear to be horn. I have another $3.00 razor that I'm starting to learn the sanding process on. It as black when I started with some pitting. I'm up to the 1000 grit now and the pitting is gone.
    It started like this.

And is starting to look like it might come around.

    Thanks for the thread referral.

There is absolutely no markings on this blade. I don't see any evidence of it ever being marked. And no, I didn't sand off any stampings. [emoji1]

That is coming along nicely my friend. Nothing wrong with a "John Doe " razor as long as it performs well.

    Happy July 4th everyone!
