    Default Hoshi Tombo

Just picked up this Hoshi Tombo 8500. Took it for a few laps on an Escher and what a shave. I was never a fan of Japanese razors but I'm impressed. a nice razor. Thanks for looking.

    Out of curiosity, why not?

Also, I absolutely adore the Hoshi Tombo designs. It's too bad none of them are full hollows. If I recall correctly, the 8500 is the deepest grind, and that's just a half hollow, yes?

Yes i think its a half hollow. I don't have any valid reason for my lack of interest. I think trying to sort out all the other vintage razors was enough of a challenge. Then one day out of curiosity I bought a Kamisori for $15.00 on ebay. Man that thing could shave, took a great edge and is one of my favorite razors to shave with. The Hoshi Tombos are great looking razors. I am hooked on Filarmonicas and Japanese razors at the moment. Lol. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with a Japanese razor, even the ones with Swedish steel.

No nothing at all. I should have used a different word in stead of "fan". I overlooked them, never had an interest in them. That being said they are fantastic razors. Engine I'm looking forward to getting one with Swedish steel. I can imagine the edge it will take.

Parker 510 & 567 are excellent examples of Japanese Razors made from Swedish Steel.
