Thread: 7/8 Joseph Smith & Sons 3415 Dreadnought Point

Just scored this one today. Maybe the Joseph Smith Dreadnought Point will be my new claim to fame.
This one isn't in as good condition as his brother. The hone wear has scarred the blade front and back. Gives the blade character I guess. (There's definately enough material to remove the wear though.)The scales need to be replaced as well.

I wonder what to do with the "set" once this one arrives. Camel bone? Streaked horn?

The listing really had no info but based on the unique point I had to have it.

Have at it. Any suggestions?

Looking at these 2 pics side by side I now see that the "set" isn't so similiar after all.
There are huge differences in how pronounced the tip is.
The tail that would have me believe that the one on the right is older because it's smaller and less defined.

Any thought on this?

I vote on streaked horn.

Carve black mother of pearl hits the top of my list, but if you are looking for something a little more simple and attainable then streaked horn gets my vote.

Who ever honed that razor should have his honers union card taken away. Streaked horn.

Streaked horn would set it off really nice. Either all the honing has worn it down some, or it was not as hollow ground as the other near wedges were. That one almost looks like a true wedge looking at it from the toe end pic you showed there cheetah.
