Default A pair of fancy Rodgers

I played some musical chairs on a couple Rodgers razors by switching some scales around (from a blade-only razor that I had initially rescaled). These two are the result, and I think they fit very well. While not original scales, I justify it to myself that custom scaling was a practice that has historical precedent.

The first is a 1830s Rodgers that is etched all over, with one-piece MOP scales that are unfortunately cracked, but I can live with that. The second is a fancy spine Rodgers with covered tang and brass-backed paneled scales. The blade is etched with the maker and lightly reground, but most of the etching is still visible. The spine is etched with "1" so it was part of some set originally.

Lovely outcome on both. The workmanship of those years was extraordinary. How about the carved pearl ....... amazing.

Yes. And pinning collarless MOP is definitely an exciting experience...

Nice razors and exceptional scales. The size and thickness of the material for the carved MOP would be impossible to find nowadays.

Lovely workmanship and razors.. That is the first blade I've ever seen with jimps at the end of the spine. Nice idea!

    Indeed some nice ones!

Rodgers really reached out there with some different things back then. Love that stuff!
