Simpsons Polo 10
Ive wanted a new brush for a while now but its been difficult to justify since I had a perfectly serviceable Persian Jar 3. Last week the opportunity presented itself and I jumped on it. So what do I got? Well, I wanted a brush that was a step up from my PJ3. The PJ3 is a great overall brush. My only complaints were what when I was lathering in a deep bowl, I found that I was always getting lather all over the handle and my fingers. My hands are big so I wanted a generous handle. Check that. I also wanted a slightly larger knot. Check that. And I wanted to give Simpson's super badger a go. Check that. Overall, its definitely a step up from the PJ3. Its a much larger brush. I had once toyed with the idea of getting a PL12 or PL14 and was wisely talked out of that by a gentleman at Simpsons who guaranteed me that the PL10 was huge. And so it is.
The knot is said to be the same size as the Chubby 2 but perhaps less dense. I don't have a CH2 so I will have to assume they are more dense than this.
Here are a couple pics showing the size difference between the PJ3 and a Commodore 2.
Today I will test it out for the first time. More later.

Oh yeah baby....that's the Big Boy...HUGE brush...I have a Simpson's Polo 10 SB I was lucky enough to grab from the SRP Classifieds awhile back, what a monster!!
Every once in awhile I pull that baby out, watch it inhale a puck of soap, and lather my entire face and head with it in one swipe...super silky tips, great backbone, and just absorbs lather.
With this one, Sharpton's trick of just wetting the tips of the brush, and letting the lather work itself back into the knot, keeps the lathering very neat and tidy.
Since Tom shared that tip, I never soak my brushes now, just wet the tips and load the brush, really allows the characteristics of the brush to come out IMO.
Congrats - that's a real beauty....

Phrank, I used it on Monday. It covers some serious real estate. It does absorb some serious lather but it lathers a puck in no time. No fussing about the face either. It covers it all real quick. It was a great lather. I intend to use it more than once in a while.

Thanked: 118A very kind fellow let me borrow his Polo 10 because I had never tried a Manchurian knot. I was agog when I got the brush out of the box, it is just so freakin' huge... I can't even imagine what a 12 or 14 must be like!

Every other brush I've used was always just a little too small. The PL10 does not feel that way. Yes, it's a big brush and just what I've been wanting. The bid handle has been a key element that has been missing from day one. I'm loving it. But I have to admit that if I were to do it all over again, I would get it in best badger than super. My other BB has softened so nicely that to pay the premium seems unnecessary. Simpsons best badger is underrated. It delivers.

As the old pre-Vulfix Simpson catalog stated, The Polo is...."An outrageous shaving brush for Macho Men...."
