    Thanks, Outback!

All about the 'Wissdom' to see what's under there!

A Simple green/toothbrush scrub, Pencil-point work on some of the rust spots, and a wipedown with WD40 and a paper towel.
15 minutes worth made it look lots nicer!

So I think the scales point to an early 1900 or possibly before a bit.
As I said, they are brown as can be. I think the brownish hue of the older formula is a sort of oxidation, or degradation.
It happens as the material is not cleaned, nor polished.
This one has certainly had a century of neglect.

I lightly polished the bottom of one scale on the buffer. Still brown....Gonna take some work.
    Silver collar/pin shined-up!

True to form, the edges I buffed are coming back to slick black. Some scotchbrite or steel-wool will help stir it back-up as I buff on them, typically.

Can you believe this is the same shiny collar shown two pics up! Damn magnification!

Anyhoo, it will be a 'desk' project to work on a bit at a time. Lots of hand-rubbing will enable light buffer/polishing at the end.
I shall post it up as I complete it.

Here is another link to J. Wiss & Sons straight razors; J. Wiss & Sons Co. 1848-1976 - Scans of Vintage Material

If I'm not mistaken we have a member (Don Wiss?) here on SRP who is a descendant of the J. Wiss & Sons family.

I have a J. Wiss & Sons that I've had for several years now, very fine shaver.
