    Default Dryonit SR

I found this SR in an antique store. Excellent condition. On the tang is the inscription "Henry L Bellefontaine" and the flip side of the tang is inscribed: "Heinrich Sohn, Solingen Germany" and on the scales "Dryonit".

I have searched high and low and can find no information on this razor. Anyone have any information on this razor? Approximate date?

What I could find was that Henry L Bellefontaine had a perfume & barbers supplies business in Montreal Canada.

Thanks very much for this information. I am guessing Albert and Henri were related somehow. Both in the perfume - hair styling - barbering business in Montreal.

Whizbang, interesting razor, nice condition, its very easy to find razors with the Albert name on them, yours with Henry is quite rare. There another one on this site http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...razor-2-a.html.

Furthermore i dont find a connection between both names, Albert business in Montreal was always on St-Denis street while Henry's on St-Catherine street.More then likely from the same family. Since not much information is available more then likely a short lived business. Nevertheless a high quality Solingen razor made for Henry Bellefontaine, Enjoy!

Your razor is stamped Henry L Bellefontaine Limited and the Bellefontaine Deluxe linked to is stamped Bellefontaine Ltee. I am going to make a big leap here and say that yours was sold prior to Quebec's Official Language Act (Bill 22) of 1974 likely requiring the use of the French Ltee after that date instead of the English Limited because French became Quebec's official language at that time. Just a very wild guess though.

I bet there was a store front ran by one brother & a factory ran by the other brother.

Nice razor, something you don't see everyday. Let us know how the maiden voyage went.
