Thanked: 169Tongwha 77 Korean Frameback
Always wanted to try this style of frameback but didn't want to pay towa prices/they are almost all ruined with toe heavy honing/made of rot. This one was just actively rotten in one spot, though a nice visual aid for buyer beware on very hollow razors with bevel oxidation. Razor is outrageously cost engineered everywhere. Steel seems hard and good. Should be fun.

It will be interesting to hear what you think about the shave. I have not tried a Korean frameback but greatly enjoy all of my Japanese made.

Thanked: 4828I have one. I received it in a trade, and at the time I was told it was Japanese. It was only just within the last week that I was looking at it and realized that is says Made in PRK, and I had to Google that. It seems to shave well. I have never honed it, as it came shave ready.

Thanked: 169The scales are hysterically cheap.. I need to have a think about where to start. I don't think 1k is probably wise as a jumping off point. I may try to set the bevel on a fast coticule. I don't want 1k scratches on such a thin blade that seems hard. Seems like it would be asking for chips

I would assume that this is made by the same Samsung that now makes the smartphones. They're family has been a big name in Korea for a few generations an I understand.

Thanked: 4828That is very close. Amazing, however I find it odd that a Korean company would imitate a Japanese company with the cultural tensions that exist there.

Thanked: 4828True. Sometimes it is also that they may have been made to be spiteful too. We made one very similar, except ours are way better. I can see that thrown out there with a little attitude to accompany it. I had not really thought of it like that until you said Gillette and Russia together in the same sentence. It is a nice razor all the same. I have not used it a lot, but it seems to have held it's edge that it came with fairly well.
