Well, I hope you win it.

It's worth taking a beating over.

Already won and en route from France....didn't get hit for that much on the auction, and I'll just tell Wifey how much I enjoy a good spanking, that'll kick in her gag reflex and it'll be smooth shaving....

Nice razor there; with the case and blade dispenser, too. I think the rhodium is supposed to shine brighter than nickel. I wonder if the element is named after the country.

This might be a little off topic, but I was watching Indiana Jones tonight. In the Venice ransacked hotel room scene a Gillette travel set is briefly visible.

Rhodium is more durable, and prettier than any other plating on a safety razor IMHO. The only rhodium plated USA Gillette I know of was a late '40s or early '50s Executive set IIRC. Came with a large case and a polished mirror. I had one years ago but sold it, along with my British Aristocrats. A case of 'on to the next obscure object of desire.'

Yup, that about sums it up.

Think I'll file that alongside, "Hey, that looks cool, think I'll just put a "placeholder" bid on it...."

I wish mine would go for that. Perhaps after 49 years, she's heard nearly everything. I have to have everything delivered to my office, then sneak them home in my briefcase. Even then she seems to have an uncanny ability to instantly detect any new soap, brush, razor, or EdT that might be sitting on the counter, amongst dozens of other items. Nice razor, Phrank.

Nice Phrank. The English Aristocrat is one of the best looking DE razors ever made IMHO. The rhodium plating really pops on a good one. They deliver a good shave to top it off. Shaved with one of mine a couple weeks back with a NOS Gillette platinum plus blade, just stellar.

I know your pain. I have to give a full accounting of all purchases listed on the credit card.
