Thanked: 220Gottlieb Hammesfahr Foche
Hello gentlemen,
I found this razor hiding in an old shaving box in an antique store. I'm hoping to find somebody who can bring it back to it's original glory. I have some questions about the razor that I hope some of you can answer with your infinite knowledge. What is the date of this razor, and how rare is it? (The blade measures 4/8 of an inch.) Also, what does the 58 signify on the shank? Thank's in advance for any help.

A very long-lived company. Some info from Manah in this thread...http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ammesfahr.html

Thanked: 220Thanks sharptonn, (and Manah). Much appreciated. I'm going to assume now that it was made somewhere around 1898, (correct me if I'm wrong), but I'm still curious about the rarity of this particular one, and the 58 on the shank as well.

It seems to me that they are a bit rare to see as compared to other, more prolific, makers.
The 58 is a model number.
Lots of that sort of info is lost to time and war. Manah comes up with some of the best remaining info quite often.
