Thanked: 2284Another find, from a friend.
Some of you might know from previous posts I've made, that I have a few friends that keep an eye out for me when they venture to the antique stores. I have 2 guys that are often out and about, and have found excellent razors for me in the past. This story proves I have a horse shoe up my butt.
Today while I was at work, I receive a text from one of those guys, one of our electricians we use. I'm going to post our entire conversation over text.....Stay with me fellas.
Our Conversation, starting with this random, but awesome first text.
Danny- Anything good?
Me- Yes, a few things. Where you at?
Danny- Waterford, I was working in Brantford and had time to come here. Nice when there's no crowds.
Me- This brush
and this razor
The black handled razor with big brass pins. The black should be buffalo horn.
Danny- $20 on the razor
Me- Frick ya! I pay you
Danny- Brush with the black ring?
Me- It has the long handle with long blonde hair like your wife. Should be boar hair, not like your wife. The one in the centre of my pic.
It should say Rubberset.
Danny- Says Albright, $25 on the brush.
Me- Is it wood or plastic? Am I asking too many questions? Lol
Danny- I think it is plastic but I can't tell.
Me- Ya, get it too. Yer the best! Did I ever tell you that???
Danny- I are great,Now remember the part where you pay me, right?
Me- Hahaha, Ya mon.
A little while later......
Danny- Brush says Rubberset, you were right.
Me- Knew it! That makes me happy!
Danny- Oops, razor was $30. Oh well, you spill more than that on a weekend.
Me- Ha, no prob.
Did I tell you you're the breast? What do I owe you?
Danny- $62.15
Me- $62 it is, I'll set it aside in my wallet
Danny- and .15
Me- ok fiiiiiiine....... Can I borrow $.15???
Danny- How do I get it out of your wallet?
Me- Chust ask, I give u
An hour later........
Danny- Wade & Butcher, For Barbers Use. Asking $800 US on Ebay...... Rethinking this whole transaction with you.
Me- Hahaha..... Is it really?
Danny- Yea
Me- Pic
Danny-
Me- I may want a hug from you, and a long embrace.....
Danny- That will cost more
I then called him to talk, and tell him how amazing this was. Once I got it in hand I found that it was indeed an FBU. 8/8 in size, original scales, lead wedge, and bulls eye collars. One thing I noticed, and was surprised at, was how thin this particular one was ground. As for the Rubberset brush, it was much smaller than I was thinking it was going to be. Both should clean up very well. The brush I may reknot with a nice small ShaveMac DO1 in the future, and will probably try Outbacks white wax stick for the lettering. Here's some pics of the 2.

Thanked: 2284That would be cool Mike, think white will do it. I really love how that last brushes lettering came out you did. This little guy here, I think has a guys head, shaving. Hoping the white wax will reveal more.

Thanked: 2284He's down there, Waterford, all the time. I'm still curious about some of the razors in that case. It's always tough dealing with this sort of thing over the phone. They're there on their free time, I'd hate to make him go through 10 blades trying to decipher what's good and what's bad. I'm betting there's still excellent blades in that case for decent prices.
There's a fat DE under that blue paper that is intriguing, although it could be just another knack. As well as the rest of the straights and brushes.Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

Ima telling you....Up there, all the good stuff is coming out of attics. It will dry up soon.
Best things I have collected came from Conn, Penn, NY, NH, Mass, and even a recent one from Vermont. Ebay......
Down in Houston? We get things collected in the 50's by old ladies.... Hard to find a DE!

Talk about great luck, and found on a scouting mission.
I haven't been able to find anything worth buying in months.
You better have him look at those other razors too. Don't miss out.
Congratulations and enjoy!
