    Default Lund, 57 Cornhill

    Just received this in today's mail. Got it for a reasonable price on eBay. Just under 2 1/2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide. Looks to be bone scales, I've never seen anything quite like this. There is a little chip in the edge, but hopefully it'll mowing down my cheeks in a few days. Any info anyone may have is welcome.Name: IMG_2508.jpg

    Excuse my ignorance but, could the spine have been cut down because of the guly spine ware at one time? Or was it made this way? Nice score by the way!
    It's just Sharpening, right?

    I wondered the same thing. It looks like it could go either way, if I had to guess I'd say it it had been ground off. There is some hone wear that looks to have been interrupted by missing metal up top. There is also some patina that has gathered on top, so I suppose it was used a fair bit after the grinding.

    Just guessing here but it looks like it may be missing a piece of metal where the step down on the spine is. It's possible that it originally had a "frame back" on there, an extra piece of metal wrapped around the spine. There are many examples on SRP, here is one of them http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ml#post1329854

    If that were the case, the frame would have dwarfed the blade.Name: FullSizeRender.jpg

    I imagine it may have had a detachable comb guard which slipped on it like this Henckels did?

    Love that grind, it was fitted with an optinal comb for cutting hair and shaving or as a beard trim razor, as shown below.

    I have a few small trim razors as well as razors that had the optional comb, one of which was said to have been used by Teddy Roosevelt. T. Roosevelt Torrey razor?

    @sharptonn That looks really similar to the OP's razor on the spine. Do you have the comb guard? Just wondering what that looks like on there.

    @Euclid, same thing there.

    I think those comb guards were easily lost over the years.

    Beautiful razor, like Jaycey said they are more then likely ivory, since the spine is the same width I don't think there was a frame, more then likely like Tom said attachable comb, like the one below.
