Swedes don't fit...but there is a Bright Side...actually 2 Bright sides...
Well, the pair of Joh. Engstrom straights I purchased online to hopefully complete my cobbled together 7 day set of Engstrom (replacing a pair of Engstrom Framebacks) ended up being way too big for the Tiffany & Co. Days of the week case. The spines and monkey tail are just too chunky and thick.
On a positive note, the pair came cased in ALSO a Tiffany & Co. New York case. I had read that Engstrom and Tiffany had a strong affliation and stockists agreement in the late 19th and early 20th Century.... so that was VERY cool. The seller, an online Coin Silver & Gold operation in New York had not listed them as such with that provenance. WIN in my book if in fact it is the appropriate case.
2nd win today, I awoke a 4:30 am to hit a very large Flea Market here in Florida that does business on Mondays only seasonally. It is not exactly Brimfield but it is fairly solid. I gather some of my favorite things in the books, maps, ephemera, and photograph areas....(saw ONE straight razor all day btw and poorly honed G.W. "Pipe" razor).... before I hit the exit I was drawn to an area with lots of cases.... Great amounts of cool wristwatches, Vintage Omega, Wittnauer, Gruen, Hamilton, Seiko, Vulcain, on and on. Since I was wearing my Seiko SUMO diver I asked the guy if he had any other vintage Seiko watches. He pulled out a watch roll from behind him on a rolling cart. Yes, there was one more..... I inquired what he needed to get out of that particular watch and he said he would LIKE to get $125....I opened my wallet and pulled out a $100 bill and asked if that would work also. He responded "of course". I handed him the "C" Note, put the watch on my wrist...( a little loose on an incorrect stainless bracelet), shook hands with him, exchanged business cards and headed for my car to drive back to Tampa. WIS / WatchGeeks will know this fairly scare 7A28-7030, the FIRST ever Analog Quartz Chronograph.

Unfortunately, the only watches that appeal to me have a connection to razors.
Which means Jaeger-LeCoultre, and I don't have that kinda cash. :P

Thanked: 4827I live in a very remote and sparsely populated area. I would love a chance to go to the big flea markets.
I appreciate the post of your adventure.
I'd love a vintage Seiko.
I'm sorry your blades do not fit in your seven day box. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
