Thanked: 41I need some advice on restoring the vintage 3 piece DE razor. I scrubbed everything with that dish-washing powder and almost all the rust is gone.
As I mentioned earlier, I can close it tight without a blade in, but the screw stops screwing near the end when a blade is in.
I cleaned gunk that was inside the handle, but that didn't help.
I cleaned (some) gunk on the threads in the handle and on the screw. That didn't help either.
Is that fixable? I'm thinking that I'd have to re-thread it - any other options?

I'm not sure I follow. The blade should make very little difference as far as the threads catching. When the blade is in place the blade will flex into position. Is there any visible damage to the threads?

Thanked: 3228I can't see having a blade installed making a difference on how tight the handle will screw on. You could try wrapping some dental floss or plumbers Teflon tape around the stud and see if that helps any.
