Thanked: 220New razor
It looks like it could be a Gillette Military issue kit. Are there any numbers or markings under the razor head? The date can be varified if there is.

That's a neat kit. Is the mirror built into the case, or a separate slide out?

I have a Canadian Gillette that looks just like that, razor only no case. IIRC mine is a 1954 great razor. Neat kit you have

The razor is what is referred to as a Gillette Tech. They are great razors and I have one just like yours without the kit. Smooth shave. On the less aggressive side.
I would advise against doing anything aggressive to clean it up. The head is chrome plated Zamac, which is an alloy. You don't want to see any Zamac exposed. It is copper colored.
Look under the top cap to see if it says, England. Many think the ones made in England are best.
