Thanked: 2284To rich for me
My Mom sent me some photos today from a booth at a large antique mall. I've been there before, and snagged a few great blades. But one of the booths always has great razors, priced at about double what they are truly worth in the condition they sit. Sometimes a little more than double. The Joseph Rodgers with the extended tail has me intrigued, but not for $200 Canadian.
I think I posted a little while back some shave gear from the same vendor. I believe there was an aristocrat Gillette DE that was somewhere in the 2 hundo range. Wonder if they ever sold it. I may have to go check these out and see if there's anything worth the $$$

Really nice of your Mom to lookout for you like that. Of course those antique guys frequently price things high expecting customers to make an offer for less.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2284That's the problem with these malls Jimmie. There's 4 malls within 30 mins of me. Most have somewhere around 200-300 booths attended by 3 or 4 random people who work there. If you want to barter, they have a policy that the item has to be over $300 before they'll call the person so you can dicker.
Stupid.

Are malls aren't like that, they will call if its not marked "firm"
But the flea markets are where you can really haggle.
I have a vendor like yours, and really, a lot of its pure junk, and priced as pristine, or NOS.
WANTS $250 US, for a over honed (into the stabilizers ) MOP scaled razor, and both scales are broken to boot.

Thanked: 2284Colin and I always talk about a Puma at our meets, that has been sitting at a huge antique market just outside of Toronto. It's been there for at least 4 years now, and each year it gets worse and worse with cell rot. $300 it can be yours. I explained to the guy what was happening and he just acts like I have no idea what I'm talking about. I think Colin has told him the same.

Thanked: 133This one time I was shopping around and I saw a razor box..sigh. In lower Alabama I haven't really found any places with vintage razors/hones. Will do some traveling eventually though might have some luck then. Good luck with the deal hunt.
