Default Dovo model 41 stainless steel

Just got this in the mail today. It was advertised as bought years ago and never used. Photos are as it came out of the box. I can't see any appreciable hone wear other than what happened setting the factory bevel. The bevel appear to be small and even both sides. It will need a touch up at least.

The big question for me is dose it have real mother of pearl scales? They do not look like photos of the pearlex scales I have seen. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to check and see if they are real MOP or pearlex.

Touched it up on the 12K Nani with slurry and then plain water, 20 laps on a crox sprayed hanging strop and lastly 40 on English linen/100 on Shell Cordovan leather. Did a 2 pass test shave and we are good to go. Looks like Dovo got the grind right on this one and the factory edge looked better than the one my new TI came with.

Well I've seen real MOP, and if its not, its the best faux MOP I've seen.

Try this Bob---->Gently rub the surface of the scales across your front teeth. If it feels smooth it isn't real pearl. If it is scratchy then it's the real thing.

Thank you, just did and they feel ever so slightly rough. They also feel slightly cooler than room temp when you first pick them up. So between you, me and Mike I think I have a winner .

I emailed Dovo for on the subject to see whether they used MOP for scales at one time. I did get a reply which I will post if the author will give their permission to post it on the forum.
