Can blame you at all for acquiring those. Enjoy.

I think those are the ones I was watching because they have ivory scales but I missed 'em. Glad they went to someone on here. The price was decent.

Since these blades share my last name, I can't help but like this thread. Perhaps the familial history explains my fondness for Sheffield steel. The ivory is a nice touch as well.

I received the razors yesterday and all 3 are in good shape. From the edge up to the spine about 1/4 inch had been cleaned but was in good condition. I buffed all 3 and are now honing. can't wait to use them. The Bengal I received I think I will clean hone shave and put it back on the bay.

I got them honed today and used them this afternoon. I should not have been suprized when they shave as good as they did. Now i wish I had all 7 of them instead of just 3.

I'm looking at another sheffield with tooth scales. What I really don't understand is the many different shades of teeth there are. I see some with snowy white color and some with creme yellow and many shades in between. I've been looking for an explanation and so far haven't found it. Since I use false teeth myself I know they come in different shades but none that look like I smoked for 50 years while drinking gallons of coffee. just a thought.

I think they pick up a lot of colour from the enviroment and boxes and handling. I think the enviroment and diet of the animal has something to do with it too.

I am certain you guys get how the very things you speak of are responsible for variations.
Dust, moisture, temperature, the environment(s) it has spent it's life in.

Nobody ever sold an ivory item back then which was nothing but clean stuff.
Likely all was almost white when sold. The patina we see now is nice, if clean! JMO
