Thread: W.R. Case & Sons

Here's a nice W.R. Case & Sons I acquired a little over a year ago or so. It is one of my nicer ones.





I think it looks nice with those bolsters on it.
I've tried flipping the top of the coffin over but it still doesn't match.

Some of my best shavers are Case's, they definitely used to know what they were doing.

It seems to me you have a few nice Case razors Steve. I think it might be you favourite brand.

That they did. I have a book called "The Knife Makers Who Went West" written by Harvey Platts, the great grandson of W.R. Case & Charles Platts. It covers from the time Charles Platts was born in Sheffield, England in 1838 & later comes to the US, then a Platts marries a Case & more but also mentioned is J.B.F. Champlin, Cattaraugus Cutlery, Crandall Cutlery, Western States Cutlery & so on. It's a very fascinating book.

I have a few Shaun. I like having ones from the family all around Little Valley & other towns in Cattaraugus County. I have some Crandall, Case, J.B.F. Champlin & a couple others made in Ellicottville. It's very interesting how all those families were closely knitted in one way or another. I won a Crandall Cutlery razor once because I saw one listed as a Randall & I knew exactly what it was.

Wow, I don't think I paid that much for it or I would have remembered but they want $114 on Amazon used & $142 new. it's definitely a nice book.
