Thread: My First Coticule

I sent emails to the mine (Ardennes) but didn't get any reply's. So I sent an email to Superiorshave.com and got a reply the next day. I asked lots of questions, told him the sizes I were looking for and about the price I wanted to pay and he gave me a recommendation. He explained a bit on the different looks of the stones and the viens that they came from now and in the past.
I was very happy with the customer service in answering my questions and explaining a lot. Plus the prices were less than getting direct from the mine. Now for you Coti lovers/collectors, its not marked or said to be from a specific vein.

This is 50mm X 175mm or about 2 X 7 inches. Came with a slurry stone but no box. If I ordered direct I would have gotten a box for it but I didn't need a box. I could have gotten a box for this stone but I didn't really want one. Should be lapped already but I can see it will need the edge beveled still.
Anyway, Here it is wet and dry. Crossing my fingers I did well in choosing as he pointed out a few to choose from.The dry pic has a wet spot in the middle as my hands were wet and that's a finger print. Ha.



BTW, Its backed with slate or something. Not a BB.

Jarrod is a good guy, good source of information. I got one of my coticules from him. Be sure to watch drmatt357 at YouTube, his four part series, among others, on the coticule. Jarrod has some good videos too.

Very good looking stone. I think the only thing I would have done differently when I ordered mine would be to have gone larger. They can be tough to figure out. For me it was all about diluting the slurry at the right time and varying the pressure. Just takes some experimenting. Good luck with it Jerry!

Oh man.... i am really thinking on pulling the trigger on one... but i need a break... too many things goi g on an also finance will be exposed again to the same SAD thay caugth me on syntetic and barber stones.... once i move to naturals i will want a coticule, an escher a kanayama and naguras... and bunch of JNATs!!! Oh boy... not prepared for that yet.... LOL
