Went into a an antque store this afternoon and he's got a case full of razors. the problem is i didn't have a case full of money. I did see this one and made an offer on it and he took it. It has one flaw that you can see. broken scales on the back side. the blade is great. you have to look very hard to see where it was once honed. I offered 20 out the door and he accepted it. I have a set of black plastic scales that will fit but I would love to find a back scale to match the one on it. It is ivory. I know that's going to be very hard. If not impossible but I'll try. Oh it's a mappin web and it came out of a 7 day set. It says Thursday on the top. I believe it's 11/16

Nice blade for sure. Actually, this style of ivory scales is more common than you think. I see them all the time on different razors so you may get lucky finding one.

The style of scale is more common I have a set but the're too short. Finding some out there with a bad blade or just a set of scales in ivory is the trick.

I found this one It's a Butler Sheffield The scales look OK except for the V in the back side. I believe that they will trade out ok. The Butler Blade is not very good but I believe i can clean it up hone and it'll shave. I have a black set of scales that will work on that blade good. If it works out to be a shaver I'll put it on the bay for not much. It can be someones starter.

Trading the blade from the Butler to the Mappin webb worked out good. I had an old set of black plastic scales that I put the Butler blade on and will hone and make sure it is shave ready and put it on the bay for next to nothing. The mappin web how ever I may keep. The scales are Ivory I think. There was no collar on either set and I can see the grain in the scales.

After honing the Mappin Webb lives up to it's repretation. it shaves great. the Butler shaves OK but the Mappin out shaves it. I guess it's got a place in the safe.
