It just happened
I saw this one on the bay and it looks ok. There was a no. 1 and no. 2 so i bid on the one. The no. 2 had a spot right in the center. If it looks as good in hand as it does in the photo I guess I'll polish and hone . I have 3 nice razors with very good blades but the scales have one side cracked from the wedge end to the pin so this one might take one of those place and who knows. This is a Waterville and barber. Sheffield. I don't know what the scales are but they look good.

I made a mistake. It's a H & R Waterfall and barber. I'll learn to read some day.

Guessing here, but I think the scales are bone. I've been wrong before so don't hold me to it.
It's just Sharpening, right?

+1 on the bone scales. Probably a lead wedge too, right?

Thanked: 1936I sure would like to see a close up of those scales...not agreeing or disagreeing on the bone statements. They are definitely natural.

Me too. That's the first thing I noticed when I saw this on the bay. There were two of them and the other had a spot in the middle that looked like a little rust and to remove it would delete the etching. I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more for a while. Looks like I lied to myself.

The razor arrived today and what I was afraid of happened. He had 2 razors the same except for condition. He had them labeled no. 1 and no. 2 and they were two different ebay listings. I got no.2 and I bid on no. 1. I contacted the seller and lets see what they say. Since there were 2 almost alike this may have been just a unfortunate mistake.
With the razor in hand I do believe it's not bone. I can see the grain pretty good so I'll go with Ivory. The wedge is lead but I haven't used the point of the soldering iron but it gives all indications of ivory.Last edited by rhensley; 02-18-2018 at 12:56 AM.

I contacted the seller and he apologized and said it was a un intended mistake. and offered to make amends. He still had the one I bid on and offered it at a very reduced rate so I accepted. The one In this photo is the one I recieved first and it cleaned up pretty good not perfect but OK. the one hes sending should clean up very good. I think a pair of these in decent shape is better than one.
