A Keenkutter and Holler finally whole!
I have had a set of picbone Holler scales for years sitting in a really nice Holler box.
Same for a Simmons Keenkutter blade. Languishing in it's box.
Lately, I finally found some cool scales for the Keenkutter and a nice blade for the Holler scales. Pinned the tops with some vintage collars and new brass spacers as I saw no need to mess with the bottom of either set.
Some rare scales, I think. My absolute last pair of antique picbone and the aluminum ones are getting too pricey. Likely no more of those either....
Paint pens and sharpies did not work on the wear at the top-front of the picbone ones.
Maybe after honing I will try some Minwax stain with a Q-tip.....
Nice to have finally done something with this. I dig them already!
Anyway, some cruddy workbench pics. Should make some good shavers.

Yes. I have found that John S Holler was an importer from 1867 until 1906 at 94 Duane Street in NYC. This one is clearly marked Germany on the back side tang.
Some, such as this one, have no country of origin upon them. I expect it is much older?
Reminds me of some old Henckels I have...

Thanked: 66I have two or three tower razors. One just arrived in the mail yesterday. They have been very easy to hone and provide a nice shave.

Yes, these 2 are quality. I would bet a lot the 2nd one I pictured is a Henckels made for them.
Honing this #142 was a real pleasure, esp as it was in such good condition.
Good name to look for, I think.
