Thanked: 98An unexpected find
Went with the wife and my son into the city (Vienna) today. On a whim, we went through the Saturday flea market (at Naschmarkt) here in Vienna. Soon after arriving I bumped into a friend and he told me about a lady selling razors on the far side. So naturally, my RAD sprung in to full on flare up. Upon arrival little peaked my interest as restoration isn't my bag (yet). I did, however, take interest in a bag full of old razor boxes and miscellaneous shaving items. I asked her about it and she said 100 Euro for the whole bag. I asked if it was ok for me to root through the bag a bit first. She complied and in the bottom lay this beauty.
I lost my mind. Told her I didn't think this was supposed to be in here. She admitted her mistake and told me the backstory. It had allegedly been purchased for a male friend and was never given. She looked at me and asked if I shaved with a straight razor and if I would actually use it. I replied yes and she proceeded to reach behind her. She had the other items that were intended to be with that razor and sold as a set. She put them all in the bag and still said it would be 100 Euro. That gentlemen is how an idiot like me gets a brand new Muhle brush, Muhle stand, buffalo horn shave bowl, and BRAND NEW 6/8 French Point Esbjerg Koraat with ebony scales. I have an upcoming shave of the day that is going to make me happy!
Strike one win for the RAD in us all.
(pictures below my wife said she has some of me striking up the deal to add later)
