Thanked: 41Geneva Shorty
Thanks to gabrielcr78, I got to try this nice shorty.
Yes, that's a Geneva 5/8 that had a cracked heel, so Gabriel ground the offending part away.
I find it easier to shave my neck with this than my Dovo best 6/8. However, I have to point out I haven't found the SR that makes shaving my neck easy. Perhaps a ground toe would do the trick...

Thanked: 104Thats neat. I am used to seeing shortys made from busted toes, but a busted stabilizer is kind of different. Cool.

Thanked: 4826The short ones have there purposes for sure. I think they would be excellent bread trimmers. None of my short razors are quite that short, except for my kamasori and other fixed handle razors. Perhaps a non folder should be what you try next.

in fact.. i would not call this one a Shortie... in my mind shortie is when you cut the tip...
Marc and i were speaking the other day on the SRP IRC chat (if you can call "the other day " to a day more like 3 months ago :P) and he was saying how the large edge made difficult to shave the concave part of his neck. Since Marc is a good friend i offered to cut a cracked henckles i had and give it to him... or just give him a kamisori to try.. but he was worried about a kamisori cause of family safety (cautious man is happy man )
being tied up for a long time, Marc reminded me of the pending gift a month ago.. and i started looking for the heckles.. and for all the blood in me i was not able to find it.. but this pretty Geneva was re purposed and shipped to Marc. The main idea was to test if the shorter edge would fix the issue... however it seems like the tang is still too long.. (precisely why i wouldn'0t call it a shortie!) so i do agree, maybe the right move is to just cut the tip of the blade 1/2" and cut the scales.
unfortunately i have no razors with the tip broken.. but if one pops up we might be able to do the testhoning my mind...

Guys helping other guys. That's what I like about this place. Or should I say palace
The way my beard grows I can only get a true AGT on neck with a short razor. Hoshitombo fits that bill perfectly

My smiling shorty (1 7/8 long) works wonders on the hollows of the neck. I don't use it much now, but when I made it, it sure was the only way I could get those spots.
A nice thing for you to do Gabe. It feels good to help others. It's just Sharpening, right?

tha's indeed a beautiful shortie Gasman! curved and thicker blade sure can help reach "those" spots
Here is a shorty Filarmonica DT 14 that i made a while ago.. but this one was squared point.. i think smiling and rounded point would be as you pointed, the right fix for that situation!

You got it Man!
I still break it out now and then just to give it some shave time, but I have found that it is not needed anymore. It's my only shorty. Well, for now. I do have another cracked blade I will need to cut down some day. But this one was such a wide hollow blade I just couldn't just trash it. Then the Acrylic scales were one of my first couple trys with acrylic. It's just Sharpening, right?
