A Waterville & Reynold's
The Waterville came from Rodb, bought from our BST column. She's a beauty, for a 5/8ths razor in excellent condition. Thanks, Ron.!!
The Frederick Reynolds was bought from Robert Williams, when I went to visit him at his shop last Wednesday.
I couldn't refuse the price, especially when I believe the scales are authentic tortoise holding the rattler ground blade.
Though both were shave ready, I gave them a few passes on the B/G Escher to make sure.

A couple of real beauties Mike.
Did Robert do a full restoration on the Reynolds or is that original?
I have one with almost identical scales that needed a lot of repair work.
Enjoy!

Looks all original.
Little rust on the tang, between the scales, and some lite pitting. He may have done a light cleaning, but that's all
I didn't ask.!!Mike

Thanked: 1082Beautiful Mike, I've seen a good few of the FR rattlers and yours is the best condition. I thought the scales were dyed horn to replicate tortoise shell.

Well I thought they were dyed horn too. But they feel different than horn, aren't smooth like horn, and the colors are at different levels within the scales
But I've also never held or seen real tortoise, but I have seen the the dyed horn. If this is faux, its the best I've ever seen. So it's kind of a stab in the dark for me, if these are truly authentic tortoise.Mike

Thanked: 1082TBH I've only seen tortoise shell on the net and they had
greater depths of colours, but the pattern in yours do seem ingrained. Either way they look amazing.
