what's the best way to preserve the label? How high of a grit do i need to go when lapping it?

We were down in Atmore Alabama, for my sons wedding. Also celebrated our 30th wedding Anniversary down in Pensacola.(only thing hot was the weather)

Not sure on the label, but I lapped mine with 220 wet/dry till flat, then 400,600,1000 w/d paper.

Being mine is a barbers delight, I use one side with slurry, the other only water , being its burnished.
