Ok I finally got around to making a stand for my Kami. Unfortunately I tried free handing the slot with a Dremel and it is a bit crooked so it doesn't sit quite straight, but it works. I did figure out a better way after I had started, so if I make another it will sit better.
I didn't have too much trouble honing it, 2 layers of tape and it went pretty well despite the weird spine. First (and only shave so far) went pretty good, being a right handed shaver probably made it easier for me. Unfortunately somehow after I finished I managed to ding the toe and have to rehone
I do have a question about the handle it is kinda grungy and actually split near the end. I have seen handles for sale on Ebay are they decent? Do I just pull it off and shove the other one on or am I better off doing some kind of wrap?

Very cool!! Very.
I got lazy and found this before I got to making something. Works like gold!
Edit - It's a small picture frame. You can pick one up at most hobby stores or Amazon no problems.David

I have the same issue, I can get mine fairly sharp and comfortable but nothing like my straights. Mines been sitting for a couple years now.
