Here are the results of a call from one of my “Pickers” she had just got back from an East Coast picking trip. She called and said, she had some razors and was putting them in her case later that day, she buys and sells miniatures and got them in an Estate Sale lot.

I met her at the store as she was tagging them, and I picked up a NOS (no hone ware) Landers, Ferry and Clark razor in a nice faux tortoise (1895 -1950) in a like new box. It has a pristine blued tang, and gold badging on the blade, just a small rust mark near the tip and on the edge of the tip.

The wedge is just starting to kick off, so will probably rescale streaked horn, or possibly a nice new faux tortoise. I don’t trust the scales, too bad, it is one of the nicest vintage faux tortoise I have seen. It will come apart today.

She also picked up a nice Wade Butcher Bow razor with very little hone wear, both from the same estate sale, and a nice Scrimshaw resin reproduction.

It has good detail for a resin re-pop. I think these were done for the Bombay Company back in the 90’s. Looks great on the bookcase with some razors and knives. I have a very nice pencil cup nicely done up in Civil War motif, by them.

$50 for the 2 razors and scrimshaw. Paid up a bit for the razors, (her tagged price), but she gave me the scrimshaw for $10, no haggling – so, she will call again.

Love them first pick calls.
