Tom, Rudolf Stehlo was a Henckels razor grinder of Hungarian origin who started making blades with his own name on them when Henckels pulled out of razors. He had access to Henckels blanks and many of his blades are Friodur-based. He passed away in 2013. (Source: German forum messages)

Pete, im pretty sure it’s German for “rust free” or basically stainless steel. But I could be wrong.
