    Remember that, according to laws, they must hire folks, if given a choice, they would rather not.

    we see that here especially during the holiday season. he rest of the year I am fortunate to thinking and working individuals on the routes and sorting stations.

    A few years ago I sold a razor on eBay. It was a nice Sheffield in bone scales. I dropped it off at one of the main PO's in Chicago. The tracking showed acceptance and transfer to another Chicago office. And that was the last that anyone had heard of it. I had to refund the seller because he obviously never received it but the PO was another story. They refused to honor the insurance stating that it COULD still be in transit. They gave me the runaround for weeks and I simply did not have the time to devote to fighting with them. Someone was always going to call me back that never did and when I called them it was like calling Comcast. They wanted to start from the begining and have you restart your modem.

    It seems odd to me that the USPS, which can and does lose money every year, routinely "misplaces" or misdirects things by whole states. Meanwhile, today from UPS I got notification that via a new feature, I can now watch the progress of packages on a map, down to the neighborhood. They are a successful for-profit enterprise. Here is a screenshot of a package coming to me today.

    I worked part-time, night shift at UPS from ‘88 to ‘92 while putting myself through college. They ran a supremely efficient operation. I pretty much treated the job as a kick-a$$ workout. Not only did I receive 2 weeks paid vacation annually, but I received the best healthcare of my adult life from that company.

    I must say though that you would be amazed at the few months of Christmas chaos in one of their sorting HUBs......
