Thanked: 3225Can't blame you, always nice to find one with a connection to a retailer from one's own country. Yes, it does look pretty tidy too. It is a nice addition to the ones you already have.
When working on it be very careful around the etching on the blade as it takes very little to erase it. You could try covering it with painters tape or nail polish to protect it. There are threads on that too.
Personally, I like to keep my finds as original as possible so unless the scales are unrepayable or have cell rot they stay. That is just a personal preference though and nothing else. I have made scales on a couple of occasions and that is an interesting aspect of restoration too. Lots of threads on that too.
